It’s a shock, but we’re so hot Come dine at Sparky’s Burgers What we’ve got, the rest have not Come dine at Sparky’s Burgers Food that fills you to the top Each bite sparks, you’ll never stop Bring the kids, and your Old Pop Come dine at Sparky’s Burgers Calls for malts are clamorous Salads all look savorous Wait not till you’re ravenous We’ll fill you if you’re cavernous Our fries, designed to surprise Lush pies, sublime, hypnotize Pure meat’s a treat none can beat Feeds our Armies, and the Fleet Go down the block, not in hock Come dine at Sparky’s Burgers We’re the spot no lad’s forgot Bring dates to Sparky’s Burgers We’re the best you’ll ever know Inside, drive-in, or, to go Where the taste leaves afterglow Come dine at Sparky’s Burgers jtl 2003.05.13.0945 Music and Lyrics by Jack T. You Are Gone 02:25
You are gone, just like a summer fever You are gone, and, yet your scent still lingers Was love wrong, used by a great deceiver? A broken heart, a lonely song … you are gone The highlights, shadows of our loving In hindsight that have come to nothing That felt like, nothing I’ve felt before Now nevermore You are gone, I was your main believer You are gone, your passion was delivered Am I strong, not when all is considered? I’d receive you, now, again, yet … you are gone Those dark nights, lost in loves splendor We held tight, delights long remembered Charmed midnights that I came to adore Now nevermore … not ever more You are gone, just like a summer fever You are gone, and, yet your scent still lingers Was love wrong, used by a great deceiver? A broken heart, a lonely song … you are gone You are gone … you are gone jtl 2007.07.07.1533 Music and Lyrics by Jack T. Leyton, Published by Solamint Publishing ASCAP and LVT8 Publishing ASCAP

Longings 03:29
I have longings They try to humble me Gorgeous ladies dressed for spring Hot jazz, and symphonies Roller coaster rides White wine, just slightly dry An appetite I can’t hide Fast cars I love to drive I have longings Oh, what they put me through But, the greatest of them all Is for you The way you touch me Your kisses so sweet Our soft caresses Melt me each time we meet If you are not near I long for that ecstasy That tingling of fever Whenever you’re next to me I have longings Yet, what can I do? When, What I long for most of all Is you jtl 2006.10.07.0800 Music and Lyrics by Jack T. Leyton, Published by Solamint Publishing ASCAP and LVT8 Publishing ASCAP

We Were Once 04:14
[him] Well hello, how long has it been? Don’t seem to know where to begin Never thought we’d meet this way Thinking back, it’s like yesterday We were once, walking hand in hand We were once, kissing at the door We were once, running through the sand But, we don’t do that any more We were once, strolling through the mall We were once, both pulling at the oars We were once, watching leaves turn in fall But, we don’t do that any more [her] I recall always going weak Each time you’d brush against my skin Oh, how my heart would leap When caught by your silly grin [him] I recall my burning passion More than I could ever stand Couldn’t resist our attraction Even now, can’t say I can We were once, enchanted lovers With warm thoughts of growing old But, in time, our hearts grew colder Bringing enchantment to a close We were once, the greatest lovers We were once, the best of friends We were once, made for each other But, now, all that is at an end jtl 1996.11.13.1835 Music and Lyrics by Jack T. Sitting ‘round the corner Laundromat That’s the place I do my laundry at For an hour I make certain that My clothes are clean, and I am gone Screaming children running Here, and there Using languages from everywhere Young lovers coupling without a care When my loads finished I am gone Aye, aye, yai, yai Aye, aye, yai, yai Aye, aye, yai, yai In just an hour I am gone Then, one day, came in, to my surprise A lovely lady, with dark green eyes Asking for help, and would I oblige I couldn’t help myself, but nod Her wash started, we began to chat Of her country far from where we sat A land of beauty, where her heart’s at As in a daydream, I was gone Aye, aye, yai, yai Aye, aye, yai, yai Aye, aye, yai, yai I closed my eyes, and I was gone For many weeks, then, we’d sit and chat While doing clothes at the Laundromat My heart she’d stolen, as quick as that Yes, just one kiss, and I was gone We plan to travel to her land of birth Most lovely garden, You could find on Earth Where we’ll have children But, we’ll marry first A few more days, and it’s “so long” Aye, aye, yai, yai Aye, aye, yai, yai Aye, aye, yai, yai My heart is hers, and we are gone jtl 2004.07.24.0730 Music and Lyrics by Jack T. about

Poets and composers have dreams that they are compelled to fulfill,
not out of choice but out of necessity. This is a part of their soul, whether accepted or not, it must come out. Hopefully for the enjoyment of others.

On March 8, 2019, just six months after a heart-attack postponed
(almost indefinitely) the recording of this project. This professional band, led by my dear friend and arranger Chris Glik, rendered life unto my compositions which had been sitting in my notebook for over a decade.

It was an ambitious day, with my budget stretched beyond my comfort zone and 11 musicians, 9 cameras and a zero margin for do-overs. We descended upon the venerable Clearlake Recording Studios to record six songs, knowing we’d have to keep whatever we get... the most ambitious being our number featuring the dazzling singing trio, The Satin Dollz.

It was an experience of a lifetime that I’ll never forget - a day equal to
the birth of a child! I hope you enjoy this as much as we did.

about

Jack T. Leyton Santa Clarita, California

I am not a professional singer. But, I love to write. These songs and lyrics are my attempt and hope to approach the work of the great love ballads of the 1930's, 40's, 50's and after. The songs that inspired me to write these new, original songs of love and humor. ... more
